Meet Sophia Raquel

Sophia Raquel is an Austin-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores color, line, and movement.

Creating since childhood, Sophia developed her abstract visual language through years of drawing, painting, and experimentation. Her work moves between bold angular forms and organic, neurographic-inspired lines, often building intuitively rather than toward a predetermined image. Each mark informs the next, allowing a piece to evolve through layers of color, movement, repetition, and detail.

Sophia holds a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience from St. Edward's University and works professionally in Vision Therapy. Her background in neuroscience and visual processing has become an unexpected companion to her artistic practice, deepening her curiosity about perception, attention, movement, and the ways we experience visual information.

Her work spans acrylic, watercolor, ink, graphite, crayon, and mixed media across paper and canvas. Though her materials and compositions continue to evolve, the thread throughout her work remains the same: creating intuitively and discoverying the image through the process.

In 2026, Sophia brings her work to the Austin Studio Tour at St. Edward's University, returning her creative practice to the public sphere and beginning a new chapter of exhibition and exploration.
